MSI’s sliding/folding touchscreen ultrabook, a very distant relative to the ASUS Eee Pad Slider if you want was unveiled at Computex 2012 earlier this month, under the Slider S20 moniker. Now the device gets a price tag of $799 – $899 and it’s supposed to launch in October.
The Windows 8 hybrid features a 11.6 inch touchscreen and it could come as late as November, if the October deadline isn’t met. MSI didn’t confirm the official specs of the convertible, but what we do know is that it uses processors from Intel’s 3rd gen Core range, so it will be a Windows Surface Pro alternative, if you want to perceive it in that way. Also, this means you’ll get full Win 8 on the slate, rather than Windows RT. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0 and wired Ethernet.
There’s also HDMI connectivity on board and MSI strangely enough didn’t include a trackpoint on the S20 under that keyboard area. Well, we have a touchscreen after all, so the trackpad/touchpad/trackpoint is useless. I’m really curios to learn about the weight of this device, since it looks pretty beefy. From what I’ve heard it should have a bit over 1 kg and rely on an Ivy Bridge unit.
