The Google Nexus Tablet has leaked quite a bunch of times so far, so this is hardly surprising, but here it goes: Gizmodo Australia managed to score some major details about the device, claiming that the following info is real. So, it appears that we’re indeed expecting a 7 inch model built by ASUS and showcased at Google I/O 2012 on Wednesday.
The Nexus Tablet comes with a 7 inch 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a 1.3 GHz quad core Tegra 3 processor from Nvidia. Nice to see they finally settled on quad core, after some doubts regarding that aspect. Sources said that in order to keep the price down, Google went with dual core CPU, but that’s no longer the case. The list of leaks also includes an Nvidia GPU, 1GB of RAM, 8/16GB of storage, a 1.2 MP front camera and 8 hours of battery life.
The device also has WiFi and NFC and I supposed that it will only be available as a WiFi-only unit, at least at first. The leak suggest that the device will go on sale in Australia sometime in July, so we can expect by the start of next month to already hit USA, for example. So, all we need now is a price, but the $200 rumored mark seems pretty tangible at this point, considering the specs.
