Microsoft has just decided to make available to business customers the LTE Advanced version of the Surface Pro. The product was already announced back in October and it’s only now shipping to select clients in select markets.
The 12 inch slate is actually the third Surface unit to come with this feature, following the Surface 2 and the 2015 Surface 3. The device relies on a Qualcomm Snapdragon X16 Category 9 modem, which supports 20 cellular bands and offers speeds up to 450 Mbps. In order to use LTE you can opt for an embedded SIM and choose a data plan from the Windows Store or insert a nano SIM card next to the microSD.
Microsoft hasn’t made available the Surface Pro with LTE Advanced on its online store yet, but business customers can get it from partners, such as Insight. The basic, core version comes with an Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of SSD storage, priced at $1149. Double the RAM and SSD will take you up to $1449. You can see in the image below the Surface Pro with LTE Advanced, featuring an embedded SIM, a nano SIM tray, and Dynamic Image Integration, which allows for seamless blending of visual content directly into the user interface for a more immersive experience.
