You may have noticed us posting more often about big phones and laptops lately, since the line between those and tablets is getting blurrier. And more often than not we see some entry level NVIDIA graphics on convertibles. Well a new generation of such a product is coming up, the NVIDIA MX250, which is an entry level set of graphics, which we detailed below.
Up until now we were super used to seeing the MX150 graphics on laptops. It was supposed to offer a beefed up gaming and video experience compared to the integrated graphics from the Intel and AMD CPUs, also with low power usage. The Huawei MateBook X Pro was a device packing such a piece of hardware. NVIDIA has yet to announce the solution, but it has just leaked online.
HP and Dell have managed to fumble that. HP posted a spec sheet on its site, detailing a business laptop dubbed HP ZHAN 66 Pro 14 G2. It’s a 3.5 pound machine with a 14 inch screen and support for up to an 8th gen Intel Core i7 processor, up to 32 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of SSD storage or 1 TB of HDD.
The kicker is the “NVIDIA GeForce MX250 with 2 GB of GDDR5”. The new graphics chip is based on NVIDIA’s new Turing architecture, but we can’t say how much of a performance boos we’ll get. NVIDIA is probably going to unveil this at CES 2019, together with the mobile versions of RTX 2060, RTX 2070 and RTX 2080. As far as Dell goes, the option appears for the Aussie pages for the Dell Inspiron 14 5480 and Dell Inspiron 15 7586.
