Huawei MatePad Pro 2 is rumored to be unveiled during Huawei’s event on June 2nd, when we may also see some other devices such as laptops. We’ve seen leaks for this device previously, also saying that there was going to be a regular MatePad 2, aside from the MatePad Pro 2.
The Huawei MatePad Pro 2 is a direct successor to the Huawei MatePad Pro and it was just spottted on GeekBench, under the codename WGR-W09. The device scored 908 points in the single core test and 2987 points in the multi core one. The device is said to come with Android 10 out of the box and 8 GB of RAM. The OS is a bit dated, so I expect either Android 11 with a new EMUI or maybe HarmonyOS 2.0. The chipset details aren’t unveiled in the benchmark, but we do know that it’s going to be an octa core 2.04 GHz CPU.
Other leaks also mentioned a 12.2 inch or 12.6 inch screen, with a 120 Hz refresh rate for the MatePad 2 and a 12.9 inch screen for the MatePad Pro 2. A Kirin 9000 CPU is not out of the question, provided that Huawei has enough supplies. There’s also reason to believe we may get a fork from either EMUI or Harmony into something called PadOS, inspired by iPadOS. This is not exactly a new thing, since Xiaomi is also rumored to be forking MIUI into a special tablet version.
They’ll have dock bars, improved multitasking and split screen.
