Who would have imagined that you could rotate and flip your laptop and still have it be good enough for video and photo editing? HP proposes that via the ZBook Studio X360, an editing studio on the go basically.
With this machine, HP wants to take on the best and latest MacBook Pro models and also the Dell XPS 15. There’s actually a whole new series of ZBook Studio laptops, which promise to offer desktop workstation performance in a convertible format. The two newcomers rely on the Intel 8th generation processors, going as high up as Xeon and also benefiting from the speed of SSDs.
First things first, we’ve got the HP ZBook Studio x360 G5, promoted as “the world’s most powerful convertible PC”, by HP. Inside we’ve got an 8th gen Core i5 or Core i7 CPU, but you can also opt for a Xeon E3-2186M chipset. Up to 32 GB of RAM are here, of the DDR4-2667 variety. Storage goes up to 512 GB of SSD PCIe NVMe M.2. Even the screen has some selections ready and I’m talking about a 15.6 inch DreamColor panel with 4K resolution, but there’s also Full HD of course.
Anti glare, Gorilla Glass 4, you name it, plus touch support are all here. The graphics are crazy for the format: NVIDIA Quadro P1000 with 4 GB of memory. A bundled Wacom AES pen is also available, with 4096 levels of pressure. The product weighs 4.9 pounds and measures 20.4 mm in thickness. Its battery life is slated at around 16 hours and the 360 degree hinge makes it more versatile.
Then comes the HP Zbook Studio G5. That one is slightly slimmer and lighter and comes with the same Xeon and NVIDIA solutions. There’s an 18.9 mm waistline here, 4.4 pounds of weight and a HDMI 2.0 output, plus two USB 3.0 ports and two USB 3.1 Type-C ones with Thunderbolt, which are shared by the device above too.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg for connectivity, that includes an SD card reader, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC. Windows Hello is activated via a 720p front camera and Bang & Olufsen speakers take care of the acoustics, via stereo setup and dual microphones. HP Zbook Studio x360 is priced up from $1499 and the Zbook Studio goes up fro $1299. They’ll come in May.
