The latest iPad leak is here, but this time it concerns the smaller model, the iPad Mini 6. It comes from Pigtou and hints at two cutouts in the screen, one for the Touch ID sensor and one for the selfie camera sensor. We have more details below, a render or two and a video.
The new iPad Mini is expected to drop around March, which is when the iPad Pro (2021) could also appear, together with an iPhone SE 2021. Now @xleaks7 and CoverPigtou have shared renders of the iPad Mini 6, complete with novelty. Apparently, this could be the first Apple tablet to feature a punch hole front camera. There’s also no Face ID hardware, so it will be used only for selfies, while authentication happens via a fingerprint reader. That one is embedded as a Touch ID sensor in the screen, but it’s not very clear if it happens via cutout or it’s embedded in the panel.
Otherwise, the design is familiar with an unibody aluminum case with sloped sides and a singular back camera. The bezels have been reduced a lot compared to the iPad Mini 5 and also the diagonal is said to have increased. Previously we heard about an 8.5 inch diagonal, but now analyst Ming-Chi Kuo even talks about a 9.1 inch screen. The source mentions dimensions of 203.2 x 134.8 x 6.25 mm and we may also see an Apple A14 processor inside. In the meantime, the iPad Pro 2021 moves to a mini LED panel, on a 11 inch and 12.9 inch diagonal.
It should also get extra magnetic connectors at the back side, 5G and maybe a CPU bump. The camera remains with a square module and a LiDAR sensor included.
