Chuwi already debuted an UBook Windows tablet, a 2 in 1 device this year, but now they’re ready for a second gen unit. The first model was supposed to be a Surface Pro rival with a price below $500. Now the new model will make the jump to the Intel Amber Lake CPU. Let’s see what we know about it.
The first gen model had a high res screen, 8 GB of RAM and stylus support. However the Core m3-6Y30 Skylake CPU was a bit dated. Now after the Chuwi UBook comes the Chuwi UBook Pro, with a larger screen and more storage. Inside we find the 8th gen Intel Core m3-8100Y Amber Lake chipset. We have no price yet, but once again it’s expected to be less than $500.
Preorders will start on September 25th and customers will get a 25% discount if they sign up to this promo page. The whole “UBook” name comes from the kickstand shaped like the letter “U”. The kickstand can be adjusted anywhere between zero and 145 degrees. IT comes with a detachable, backlit keyboard, so you can use it like a handheld tablet, prop it up like a TV or set it on the table like a regular laptop.
Chuwi UBook measures 0.35 inches in thickness and weighs 1.7 pounds. The specs list actually goes longer than that: 12.3 inch IPS LCD screen with 3:2 aspect, 8 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 256 GB of SSD storage, plus microSD. There’s also support for a digital pen with 1024 levels of pressure for writing, drawing and more.
