HP has launched the OmniPad 12 in India, a new Android tablet designed to bridge the gap between a traditional tablet and a lightweight productivity laptop. The device features a large 12-inch display, Snapdragon hardware, quad speakers and a detachable keyboard included as part of its productivity-focused design.

The HP OmniPad 12 packs a 12-inch 2K (2000 x 1200 pixels) multi-touch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 90Hz refresh rate, up to 400 nits of brightness and 100% coverage of the sRGB colour space. At 7.3mm thick and 600 grams, the tablet remains relatively portable despite its large screen.

Under the hood is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset paired with an Adreno GPU and 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Buyers can choose between 128GB and 256GB of UFS storage, while a microSD slot allows for further expansion. The tablet ships with Android 16.

HP has also placed an emphasis on entertainment and video conferencing. The OmniPad 12 features four speakers with DTS:X Ultra, a dual high-SNR microphone array, an 8MP front-facing camera and a 13MP rear camera. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, USB Type-C 2.0 and a 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack.

The 31Wh battery is rated for up to 18 hours of use, according to HP. Fast charging is also supported, with the company claiming the battery can go from 0 to 90% in approximately 90 minutes.

One of the OmniPad 12’s key features is its detachable soft-cover keyboard, which connects through pogo pins and allows the tablet to function more like a compact laptop. HP is positioning the device towards students, young professionals, first-time PC users and small businesses. Several education and skill-development applications, including iPrep, Lexillion and Brands.live, come preinstalled.
