Before the latest iPad 2017 unveiling speculations said that Apple was preparing a triplet of new slates for this year, if not even a quartet. We heard about an OLED slate, an iPad Pro 12.9 inch successor and a new 9.7 incher. Well, since those didn’t debut, we’re still waiting and the latest rumors place them in June for release.
A bunch of independent reports are saying that the new iPad lineup will debut this summer. The new iPad Pro from 2017 will get a new and improved design, which is supposed to preface the iPhone 8 design. The new slate is expected to be the same size as the 9.7 inch iPad Pro, but it will cram a 10.5 inch panel in the same format. Apple seems to have shrunken the bezels this time.
The screen is expected to extend to all four edges of the device, if leaks are to be believed. Some even say we may see no Home button here and the Touch ID will be included in the screen. This sounds a bit unlikely, since it’s more of a technology that would debut on the iPhone 8 first and then on the iPad. A June debut may mean that the iPad Pro 2017 could be announced at WWDC 2017, on June 5th.
What you see above is an inventory screen of a mystery Apple reseller. The list says that there are cases ready from Urban Armor Gear, listed as “iPad 10.5”. I have a feeling we’ll see more leaks soon.
