Xiaomi has cut the retail price of its MiPad tablet in China, a move that could mean a new slate model is coming soon. The Xiaomi MiPad has been available since last summer and it’s been rumored to get a successor before.
It’s a 7.9 inch high res device, that has a good back camera, reasonably good display and quite good speakers. The CPU inside is the powerful Tegra K1, that while it may not play good with some apps and games, when it does, they look great. Anyway, the Xiaomi tablet now costs just 1299 yuan in the 16 GB version, which is $209, while the 64 GB model costs $241.
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 was actually leaked at the end of March, sporting what seemed to be curved glass at the front and capacitive buttons. It looked like a bigger Mi Note and rumors are saying we should expect LTE on this model, as well as a Snapdragon CPU and a metal chassis.
