Huawei showcased the Ascend Mate 6.1 inch behemoth at both MWC 2013 and CES 2013, but they didn’t mention a price or a launch date, till now. We’ve got Huawei Device chairman Richard Yu, pictured below and modeling for this phablet, if you can believe it.
The price tag is $430 unsubsidized, pretty reasonably, seeing how this is the biggest phablet out there and the specs are not that bad. We’ve got Android 4.1 on this tabletphone, as well as a quad core HiSilicon K3V2 1.5 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, an IPS display with 720p resolution and Gorilla Glass 2 technology.
The screen has Magic Touch technology and it allows you to use it with gloves on. There’s also a microSD card slot on board, with support for an extra 64 GB of storage, aside from its usual 4 GB of internal storage. Finally, Ascend Mate has an 8 megapixel back camera and a respectable 4,050 mAh battery on board. If you’re interested in buying it, the Huawei Vmall online store has it next week.
