Nvidia has made available new firmware updates for the Shield Tablet and Shield Tablet K1 devices, in the 4.0.1 and 1.1.1 versions, respectively. Only the WiFi and LTE RoW Shield Tablet models are confirmed to be compatible with the update.
The Shield K1 gets improved WiFi connectivity, lower power consumption for legacy apps and it also receives Shield controller touch pad functionality, that previously lacked. There’s also support for Stylus Lasso Capture now. The 1.1.1 firmware fixes the App Optimization feature and gets rid of the crashes from the Gamepad Mapper, Performance, Power and Display settings.
Even the bug that plagued Doom 3 is now gone. The Nvidia team has also optimized preloaded apps, enhanced WiFi connectivity, improved Standby power consumption and Bluetooth Low Energy scanning power efficiency. The firmware for the Nvidia Shield is here and the one for the Shield Tablet K1 here. Be sure to follow all instructions and perform a backup first.
