The folks of Mobilegeeks.de were on the Computex 2014 floor and stumbled upon a very affordable Windows 8.1 slate, the Emdoor I8080. This tablet is priced at just $100 and it runs the latest Windows, but it packs everything inside a cheap plastic shell.
Its bezels are actually small on the sides, considering the price and this model integrates an 8 inch 1280 x 800 pixel display, as well as a low end Intel Atom Z3735E processor. This is a quad core unit clocked at 1.33 GHz, but it can reach 1.83 GHz with TurboBoost. There’s 1 GB of RAM inside, 16 GB of storage and the company Emdoor also had a second model on show with better specs.
That’s the Emdoor EM-8280, with a Bay Trail-T processor, 16 GB of storage, 1 GB of RAM and the same 8 inch screen. That unit has an 18.5 Wh battery and weighs 355 grams. Back to the original model, the Emdoor I8080 has an IPS panel, which is shown in action in the video below and it’s looking pretty swell.
