At CES 2014 Mozilla was also among the participants, with a Firefox OS tablet developer program that completes their expansion into new segments. They’ve recently announced a Smart TV deal with Panasonic and now tablets are in their sights.

The company claims it will start the program shortly after CES and the slate interface will be finished sometime this year. They’ve also partnered up with the likes of VIA technologies to release mini PCs priced way below $100. Judging by the image above, we’ll get a big dock area in the new UI and probably a very minimalistic look.

This OS will be a lightweight one and so will the specs of the upcoming Firefox OS tablets be, judging by the phones with the same platform on board. I can already envision $100 priced slates with the Firefox OS installed…
