Nvidia Tegra K1 wasn’t the only talked about CPU at CES 2014, since the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon unit was also there on some reference design slates. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 is shown below in action on such a device.
This is a 64 bit processor that was included on tablets for demonstration purposes. The reference device featured all the high end specs we’re used to nowadays and just so you know, this new Qualcomm CPU also brings a brand new Adreno 420 graphics processor. This is Qualcomm’s very first 64 bit processor and only one of the last 6 months CPUs of this kind on mobile.
Apple has one, Samsung is preparing one and now Qualcomm has one. The tablet has a 10.1 inch 2560 x 1440 pixel IPS panel, Android 4.4 KitKat and 4 GB of RAM, which is pretty impressive. This CPU has been announced a while ago, so I already expect announcements of commercial products over the next month or so.
