Huawei is looking beyond the sub-800-gram MateBook Pro S, signaling at the HarmonyOS Office Industry Summit 2026 that it is exploring laptops that weigh even less. The company has not outlined hardware details for such a machine, but indicated that a new design with an unusually low weight could appear in 2027.
The current mobility benchmark
Introduced in August, the MateBook Pro S starts at 798 grams and measures 11.9 mm thick. Huawei markets it as the lightest 14-inch laptop with an all-metal build—a more narrowly defined claim than calling it the lightest PC overall. Its final weight depends on the display and edition selected.

At the same summit, Huawei said it had surpassed 1 million PC shipments and that the HarmonyOS software catalog now includes more than 21,000 apps. It also teased another computer with a different approach, with a promotional campaign expected to begin the following week.
For frequent travelers and other buyers who prioritize the lightest possible work machine, a laptop below the MateBook Pro S’s 798-gram starting point would be notable. Huawei has yet to confirm its specifications, release timing beyond the 2027 possibility, price, or U.S. availability.
