GPD has been one of the most respected makers of hybrids between PCs and portable consoles. Now they’re following up the successful GPD Win 3 with a GPD Win 4, which will be a handheld gaming PC with up to 32 GB of RAM and Ryzen 7 CPU.
The upcoming GPD Win 4 will have a compact design and a screen that slides upward, in order to reveal a hidden keyboard. Inside it should feature an impressive Ryzen 7 6800U processor and up to 32 GB of RAM. The device has a 6 inch screen, which is an upgrade from the predecessors’ 5.5 inch panel. The GPD Win 3 docking station from last year should be compatible with the new model, especially since the USB-C port at the bottom is in the same spot.
We also have USB-A and USB-C ports at the top. The AMD Ryzen 7 CPU here had RDNA 2 graphics, which means there’s a boost in both CPU and GPU performance, compared to the Tiger Lake chipset before it. The 6 inch 1920 x 1080 pixel display is an upgrade from the 5.5 inch 1280 x 720 panel before it. Also, know that the analog sticks have hall sensors and they’re adjustable, meaning that you can switch out parts for high or low profile joysticks.
The keyboard gets physical keys, instead of the capacitive ones on the Win 3. A fingerprint sensor is on the left side, plus an optical trackpad on the right. Sliding the screen up reveals said keyboard. The product will be available with a 45.62 Wh battery, Wi-Fi 6, optional 4G and stereo speakers. It’ll weigh 566 grams and run Windows and Steam OS (dual boot).
