Amazon took advantage of the fact that most companies finished announcing their products and announced its own Kindle goodies today. Chief among them is the Amazon Kindle 2022, with a 300 ppi display and 16 GB of storage.
Amazon Kindle 2022 brings a new design, a sharper display and also an USB-C connector at the bottom. This is an entry level Kindle, which borrows some of the features of the more expensive Paperwhite model, like the 300 ppi front like E Ink screen which measures 6 inches in diagonal. The new Kindle is also smaller than a Paperwhite and measures 157.8 x 108.6 x 8 mm. It weighs 158 grams. Amazon also doubled the built in storage from 8 GB to 16 GB and the battery life is rated at up to 6 weeks with 30 minutes of reading per day and wireless connectivity off.
The charging is done via USB-C, finally, after the EU pressured for the standardization of the port. Amazon also promises 30-75% recycled plastics and 90% recycled magnesium in this Kindle. Kindle Unlimited offers unlimited access to over 2 million titles, thousands of audiobooks and more. The screen is paper-like and glare free.
The device is available in Black and Denim Blue and is priced at $99.99 with ads and $119 sans ads. The product can be preordered already from Amazon today and official sales start on October 12th.
