Huawei has just launched its first 5G tablet this week, the MatePad Pro 5G and it’s already prepping another fresh slate. It will be a premium tablet, coming to India in the first week of March, with quad speakers that use Harman Kardon tech. We have details below.
It’s rumored to be priced at around $277 to $300 and its selling point will include Harman Kardon quad speakers with support for Omnidirectional sound technology, similar to the what Apple has been offering on the iPad Pros. The device is said to have a metallic body, plus a large screen and a lot of RAM. A new report from BGR claims that Huawei’s premium tablet is going to compete with the 9.7 inch iPad.
It could be part of the Huawei M or T series, that includes the MediaPad T5 and MediaPad M5 Lite. If it’s truly a premium device, it’ll have a Kirin 990 CPU and at least 8 GB of RAM. There should also be 128 GB of storage, maybe even 256 GB. Since we keep hearing about the iPad Pro comparison, we may well get a 11 incher or 12.9 incher even, something new for Huawei. Big screen devices are only tackled by Microsoft and Apple right now, so there may be room for one more player.
We have yet to see an Android-based 12.9 inch rival for the iPad Pro, so Huawei may bank on that. India is a very busy tablet market, where Lenovo is doing very fine, so it’ll be tough to beat. So far the Huawei M series only has an 8 inch and 10 inch model.
