HP is trying to make a mark on the world laptop market, by launching the Spectre Folio. This is a premium laptop with a beautiful leather covered case and you can check it out below. Usually laptops have all aluminum bodies, but this time HP tried something special.
We’re dealing with a convertible here, so it can be used as a laptop or a tablet or even in tent mode. HP calls this device “the world’s first leather convertible PC”. It’s made from 100% chrome tab full grain leather, or better said covered in it. It’s got several advantages, like a natural hinge and flexible chassis. There’s also accented stitching which adds to the luxury feel and look of the product.
Inside you can find up to an Intel Core i7 (Y Series) 8th Gen Intel CPU, up to 16 GB of RAM and 2 TB of SSD storage. There’s also 4 front speakers in the mix, with Bang & Olufsen acoustics and you can get the product with a Full HD display or a 4K one, that will come later this year. HP promises here an Always Connected PC experience, on account of having dual SIM slot inside, with eSIM support.
HP uses here a 13.3 inch panel and a format that collapses like a magazine. It has a spine and stitching that feels like a book when closed. There’s also a stylus in the mix with 4000 levels of pressure and it works at an angle. Changing the various device modes happens with the aid of magnets. We’ve also got a full aluminum keyboard with 1.5 mm key travel and glass trackpad.
This means you can get LTE speeds on the go. The preorders for the device have already started, in finishes like Cognac Brown or Burgundy Bordeaux. The prices start at $1299 for the Core i5 model and $1499 for the Core i7 one.
