ASUS is all about 64 bit processing at Computex 2014, so after debuting two new FonePads, they also introduced 3 brand new MeMoPad slates. They are distributed in all the areas that matter, including 7 inch and 8 inch segments. The newcomers are the ASUS MeMo Pad 7 ME176C, MeMo Pad 8 ME181C and MeMo Pad 8 ME581CL.
ASUS chairman Jonney Shih was on stage in order to make the unveiling and all the MeMo Pad tablets include at least a 720p display, while the higher end 8 incher even switches it up to full HD. All devices run Android 4.4 KitKat with Zen UI and the MeMo Pad 7 new gen packs a 7 inch 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display and a 64 bit Intel Atom Z2745 quad core processor, clocked at up to 1.86 GHz.
This model does Miracast and aptX CSR Bluetooth, plus it has stereo speakers with Sonicmaster technology and up to 9 hours of battery life. It weighs 295 grams and moving further, we’ve got the lower end new MeMo Pad 8, with an 8 inch 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, the same CPU as the MeMo Pad 7 and the same cool speakers. This baby weighs 320 grams and comes in a variety of colors, that seems to include a cool shade of mauve.
Finally, the higher end unit is the ASUS MeMo Pad 8 ME581CL, with an 8 inch Full HD display (1920 x 1200 pixels), an IPS panel and this time a quad core 64 bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor, clocked at up to 2.3 GHz. This one does WiFi a/b/g/n/ac, LTE and NFC, keeps the SonicMaster speakers and provides up to 9 hours of fun. It weighs 299 grams, so it’s lighter than the lower end MeMo Pad 8.
The new Zen UI features modern and flat icons, vivid color themes, animations and new ringtones and notifications. By the way, the ASUS MeMo Pad 8 is a bit of a record breaker, being the world’s lightest 8 inch LTE tablet. The device also offers Gorilla Glass 3 protection and it will come in turquoise, red, white and yellow. The styling design of all these models follows in line with the PadFone series.
