The debut of the new PlayBook OS version has been speculated for a while now, without a proper launch date being mentioned so far. We’ve heard that the OS might debut at MWC 2012 or around that time, but now a bunch of internal marketing documents obtained by Engadget point towards February 21st, that’s only 3 days away.
The update is still in the cards for being shown at Mobile World Congress, while a couple of days ago we found out that RIM is already working on version 3.0. It would be a pity to only witness the debut of new software and no new tablet at MWC. Rumors about a 10 inch PlayBook have been appearing lately, so maybe Research in Motion has a surprise for us. Honestly speaking, if the 10 inch model was real, if would have to be one of the best kept secrets ever, since there’s no solid leak so far.
With the turnmoil that RIM is going through right now, I doubt they’ll have a new hardware product ready for Barcelona, especially since their line of handsets has also suffered a bit of a delay. Let’s hope that the PlayBook OS 2.0 is satisfying enough for everyone…
