One of the latest hybrid devices with Windows is the Smartron tbook flex, which debuted in India this week. It’s supposed to be a 2 in 1 laptop, with Windows 10 on board and a price tag starting at $643. We see what it’s capable of below.
It’s got a detachable keyboard, which lets you use the machine as a tablet. The notebook will be sold on Flipkart exclusively from May 13th. As far as the design is concerned, the device opts for a magnesium – aluminum combo for the body and it’s available in Orange/Grey and Black/Grey. It also offers a fingerprint scanner, stylus support and a “flixstand”, a special kickstand that features a step-less hinge design.
It can flex up to 150 degrees and the keyboard is backlit, by the way, so you can work in the dark with no problem, even in low light conditions. The tbook flex has the above mentioned price tag in the Core m3 version, but the Core i5 one sets you back $792. Other specs include a 12.2 inch 2560 x 1600 pixel display, with an IPS panel and stylus support. It has a 16:10 aspect and it’s coated with a fingerprint resilient oleophobic layer.
4 GB of RAM are here, plus Intel HD Graphics 612 and 128 GB of SSD storage, as well as an SD card slot. Finally, on the camera front, there’s a 5 MP back shooter and 2 MP front one. We didn’t forget about connectivity, which includes two full size USB 3.0 ports, an USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 for charging, audio jack, microSD and the magnetic pogo pin for the external keyboard.
WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac is also here, plus WiFi Direct and Bluetooth 4.0. A 40 Wh battery keeps the device running and everything is crammed inside a 950 gram body (tablet only) and 9.0 mm in waistline.
