For a while there we saw a future Samsung tablet leaked as the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), but a few days ago we learned it was going to be called Samsung Galaxy Tab A2 S actually. Now the device pops up again, this time in a few renders that don’t flatter it one bit.

Specs are also entry level and certainly not impressive for 2017. We’re dealing with an 8 inch tablet here, with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. Hey, at least it’s not 1024 x 768, right? We also get a Snapdragon 425 processor, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. A microSD card slot should also be there. The thing that bums us out the most is probably the design, clad in plastic, but with some curves that try to mimic elegance.

There’s no trace of Bixby button here, unlike the rumors we’ve been hearing, supported by the leaked manual for the device, that actually showed Bixby in action. Since there’s no big official event left this year and IFA is done, Samsung may opt for a sudden launch of the product. It’s said to come in black or gold and in WiFi and LTE versions.

The WiFi model will go for $270 and the LTE one for $390. Obviously the Samsung Galaxy Tab A2 S runs on Android Nougat with a custom UI on top.
