Microsoft Windows 8 will be greeted with at least two partnering brands that have promised to launch tablets as soon as the OS arrives. These are Lenovo and Toshiba, plus Dell if I’m not mistaking, but there will also be a bunch of slates you haven’t heard about making an appearance with the new OS. One of them is the Kupa X11, a 10.1 inch slate that runs Win 8 and was recently previewed by liliputing.com.
The Kupa X11 offers 10 hours of battery life and comes with a 10.1 inch 1366 x 768 pixel display, a capacitive touch panel for finger input and an active digitizer, compatible with stylus use. There’s also a lower power 1.5 GHz Intel Atom Z670 Oak Trail chipset on board, powering the entire device. The price here is $699 and up and right now the slate is available with Windows 7, at least till Win 8 launches. However, the guys of Liliputing received from a Kupa a test unit with Windows 8 Consumer Preview.
They say that the product is aimed at professionals who need a versatile tablet with Windows software. It also gets fingerprint scanner and a digital pen because of that. The result is a bulky tablet and a bit heavier than the usual Android tablet out there or the iPad. Performance is described as poor, while the battery life is praised. It appears that the some of the apps run really slowly, so that’s the main downside on this product. More details can be found in the video below, but before that you may want to know that the gizmo weighs 2.2 pounds and measure 0.6 inches in thickness…
