Intel’s upcoming Bay Trail CPU will finally bring us raw processing power on tablets, apparently power enough to fuel a 2560 x 1440 display, as shown through the prototype below. Intel demoed such a reference design recently, probably at Computex 2013.
This is the next-gen Silvermont quad core Bay Trail CPU, a real rival for Nvidia Tegra 4 and Snapdragon 800. The Clover Trail+ 1.6 GHz Atom CPU is already very powerful and this CPU is present on the likes of the ASUS MeMo Pad FHD 10 tablet. That model has a Full HD screen, 2 GB of RAM and other high end specs.
Imagine what you could do with at least double the power, with a quad core version of the Atom. The reference tablet pictured here is called the Bay Trail-T and it packs a 10 inch 2560 x 1440 pixel display and for some reason it dual boots Windows 8 and Android 4.2.2. Now let’s see those long hours of usage!
