Chinese trade paper CENS.com recently quoted industry sources from China, specially representatives of Foxconn Technology and Compal Communications, who claim that they are working with Palm to produce a bunch of new devices. They come in all shapes and sizes and might even include the long-awaited PalmPad.

Five devices will be made by Palm’s partner, Foxconn and one more by Compal, according to the same sources. They range from portrait and landscape sliders to keyboard-less slate-like handsets, a candybar phone and possibly something new and stunning. HP must make its influence felt in the joint venture with Palm, as the Pre 2 was considered a disappointment by the public.

Let’s hope that the tablet doesn’t go the same way and the new smartphones have what it takes to succeed.
