The ASUS ZenPad 8.0 is one of the most appealing and affordable 8 inch slates and the device has just received Android 7.0 Nougat. It’s the Z380M version we’re talking about here and more details are mentioned below.
ASUS has 3 versions of the device on the market: Z380KL, Z380C and Z380M. The first two units date from back in 2015 and the last one came in April 2016. Only the 2016 unit gets Android 7.0 Nougat, while the other two units stay at Android 6.0. Aside from getting Android Nougat, there’s also the latest security patch, probably not the May 2017 version though.
Android 7.0 Nougat comes with a new notification center, improved Doze and split screen multitasking to name a few features. The tablet itself is an low midrange offering, with an 8 inch 1280 x 800 pixel display and inside we find a quad core MediaTek MT8163 processor, clocked at 1.3 GHz. There’s also a Mali T720MP2 GPU, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage.
There’s a 5 MP back camera here with autofocus and a front 2 MP shooter. Did you get the update? If so leave a comment to tell us how the device is working.
