Microsoft held a special Surface event on September 22nd, unveiling the likes of Surface Go 3, Surface Duo 2 and also the new Surface Pro 8 Windows 11 tablet. Microsoft enlarged the screen this time, increased the refresh rate and brought new CPUs.
Microsoft Surface Pro 8 now has a 13 inch screen, up from the 12.3 inches of the predecessors. It uses PixelSense tech and rounded corners, but also narrower side bezels. The device is 9.4 mm thick and weighs 891 grams. The screen resolution is 2880 x 1920 pixels and it also brings Dolby Vision support, as well as 120 Hz refresh rate, multi touch and 12.5% more brightness.
We also get stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos sound, while for videocalls we have a 1080p 5 megapixel front camera into the center of the top bezel. It provides support for Windows Hello IR recognition and face login. At the back we find a 10 MP camera capable of 4K capture. The CPU inside is an Intel Tiger Lake-U 11th gen Core low power version with up to 4 cores and 8 threads.
You can have your pick between Core i5-1135G7 and Core i7-1185G7 in the consumer version and the business one goes for Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7. The i3 has UHD graphics and the Core i5 and i7 Iris Xe. We also have Intel Evo certification here, promising an improvement in CPU performance by up to 40% and GPU performance by up to 7%. Surface Pro 8 also has two Thunderbolt 4 capable ports and it promises up to 16 hours of battery life.
It ships with a 60W charger and Surface Connect port. Memory options are 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB LPDDR4X and the storage is 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB for the WiFi version, while the LTE one has 128 GB and 256 GB. There’s also WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1. Prices start at $1099.
