Samsung is expected to announce a new slate, member of the Galaxy Tab family at the CTIA event today, but we already have some info on this product. Dubbed the Galaxy Tab 8.9, this device comes with an 8.9 inch display (1280 x 800 pixels) and fits right between the original Galaxy Tab (7 inch) and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (10.1 inch).
The new model runs Android 3.0 Honeycomb, customized with Samsung’s software layer (widgets, app switcher and more) and its specs include a dual core processor @ 1GHz. The slate weighs 470 grams and measures a mere 8.6mm in thickness, which is less than the iPad 2. More info and stuff like pricing and a launch date should be available today, after the CTIA Samsung event.
We should also mention that the Galaxy Tab 8.9 supports a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, meaning that it has a higher pixel density than Motorola Xoom.
