Samsung is preparing a slew of new devices for 2019 and aside from phones, they also have a few slates scheduled for debut. Those include the brand new Samsung SM-T378W, that was recently certified by the FCC. We have a theory about its identity.
Considering the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) had the codename SM-T385, the newcomer SM-T387 could be the 2019 edition of the same slate. The product was listed on the website of the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC). While a Tab S5 is pretty much a sure deal for 2019, we weren’t sure if Samsung was going to launch more midrange slates.
The listing of the device includes an image of the product, showing its back side. You can clearly spot the company’s logo and a camera module without a LED flash at the back side. There’s a 3.5 mm audio jack in the mix and a very small hole for the microphone. Those are placed at the top, while the Power button and volume button are on the sides.
There’s also a microUSB port at the bottom and a speaker grille close to it. On the left side we found a slot for the microSD and SIM card slots. The listing also talks about WiFi and LTE versions of the device being in development. Expect a metal body, a modest camera and a Snapdragon or Exynos CPU. The debut could come close to MWC 2019.
