Samsung launched a new Chromebook, a convertible tablet that weighs about 2.9 pounds, which is quite big for a slate, but OK for a laptop. You can call the Chromebook Plus V2 a laptop actually and you wouldn’t be too wrong. The device has a 12.2 inch Full HD touchscreen and we detailed it below.
Inside the device there’s a 6 watt Intel Celeron 3965Y Kaby Lake-Y processor and this is an update to the Chromebook Plus, that already exists and it’s made by Samsung too. The product will be available on Best Buy from June 24th, priced at $500. The 12.2 inch screen offers a Full HD resolution, touch input and digital pen input, plus a 39 Wh battery.
4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, plus there are plenty of ports here: USB Type-C, USB 3.0 Type-A and microSD. It also has stereo speakers, a 1 MP front camera and 13 MP back camera, which is strangely placed above the keyboard, basically the back of the device when it’s folded for use in tablet mode. The product has an aluminum and plastic combo of materials and it measures 0.7 inches in thickness.
The device has a 360 degree hinge and somehow it doesn’t feel like an upgrade from the device from 2017. It has a lower resolution screen, a beefier design and pretty similar specs otherwise. Another plus is the full size USB port, which the last year unit didn’t have.
