After quite a long period of waiting, the appealing Huawei MateBook X Pro is ready to go on sale. The device which was announced at MWC 2018 will be available starting this week, April 12 to be more precise.
The new laptop stunned everyone at MWC on account of the ultra narrow screen bezels, the webcam that raises from the keyboard and the fingerprint scanner in the Power button. Huawei MateBook X Pro is a Windows 10 laptop with a “full screen” 13.9 inch LTPS touchscreen, that has a screen to body ratio of 91%. The resolution is 3000 x 2000 pixels and inside we find either a Core i5 or Core i7 processor, plus 8 or 16 GB of LPDDR3 RAM.
On the storage front there’s options of 256 GB or 512 GB of SSD and the graphics are all about the NVIDIA MX150 with 2 GB of memory. The battery is a 57.4 Wh unit, that offers up to 12 hours of continuous usage (with fast charge supported). Connectivity includes a Thunderbolt port, plus another USB Type-C port, a full USB 3.0 port and audio jack. The price should be around 1499 euros, which converts to $1850, for the 8th gen Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB of SSD version.
The device is just 4.9 mm thick at the slimmest end and 14.6 mm at the thickest. The real feat is that it weighs just 1.33 kilograms, which is lighter than the MacBook Air even. The keyboard integrated here is backlit and spill proof and beneath the keys we can find a pretty large trackpad. Too bad for the lack of SD card slot and more solid GPUs.
