China Telecom has a cool Maemo device available on the local market, Optima OP5-E, while the manufacturer of the product is trying to go international by looking for distributors. The folks of armdevices received a review unit of the MID and took some hands on time with it, the result being the video you can view after the break.

The Optima device features a 4.3 inch 800 x 480 resistive touchscreen display, a 806 MHz Marvell PXA310+ ARM processor, 128MB of RAM and a SIM card reader (3G CDMA). GPS and Bluetooth are also on board, together with an exchangeable 2600 mAh battery. The price of the MID is $500 unlocked, but it can even go for $300 if subsidized.

VOIP and IM should also be supported, as well as regular voice and SMS, but that’s the carrier’s decision, once it adopts the device. Optima OP5-E is the first Maemo device not made by Nokia and a very strong competitor for Android tablets. Full review can be found here and hands on action in the video below.
