Microsoft has a big education-focused event today, one that will bring us the unveiling of a brand new Surface model, based on the cloud version of Windows 10. In the final hours before the event there was a leak, revealing the design of the device.
What we’re seeing here are official-style renders and the name Windows 10 S also got thrown around. Previously people referred to the whole thing as Windows 10 Cloud and the machine was simply dubbed CloudBook. We also have some details about specs. So, it turns out that the Surface Laptop is a 13.5 inch clamshell machine, which won’t detach, being more like a regular laptop.
It’s got a PixelSense screen, which may increase the price a bit, as well as Windows 10 S as the operating system. The product will be available in 4 colors: Platinum, Burgundy, Cobalt Blue and Graphite Gold. It’s also going to sport 3 or maybe 4 ports, including one USB, one DisplayPort and one audio jack. An SD card slot may also be there.
Finally, Microsoft included its very own proprietary charging port, similar to the ones from Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book. Surface Laptop is expected to come to schools this year, with a good price, in order to rival Chromebooks. Windows 10 S is basically a version of Windows 10 that only lets you install apps from the Windows Store, no x86 apps.
