It appears that quite a few companies are happy with the fact that Microsoft hasn’t released a new Surface Pro tablet, since they can debut their own devices fitting within the same niche. One of them is Lenovo, with its Miix 720 model, that’s ready for release now.

The device has recently been pictured and specced and the details are available here. Some of the Miix models have been more or less affectionately called Surface clones and this is also the case here. This new device relies on an Intel Kaby lake CPU, available in Core i3, i5 or i7 flavours, up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage.

The basic versions will start at 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The screen is also nothing to frown upon, a 12 inch 3:2 unit, with a 2880 x 1920 pixel resolution and Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Multiple connectivity options are on offer, plus a stylus with 2048 pressure levels and Windows Hello via iris scanner/infrared camera.

Of course we also get a keyboard cover, with backlight. An interesting aspect is the fact that we get an USB 3.0, 2.0 and USB Type C with Thunderbolt together. Lenovo Miix 720 has a 5319 mAh battery, that should offer up to 8 hours of usage. And to top it all, it’s also a slim device, at 8.9 mm in waistline. Expect a price of around $1100.
