Last we heard, the NOOK tablets only came from Samsung, but it appears that Barnes & Noble may be getting back into the game, with their very own slates. A fresh model, called Barnes & Noble NOOK Tablet 7 has appeared at the FCC in a major leak, detailed below.
Codenamed BNTV450, the 7 incher seems like an affordable model, that may even support Google Play Store and other apps. It’ll of course feature B&N’s NOOK software, used for purchasing and reading eBooks, audiobooks and more. The FCC leak also revealed some specs, including the presence of front and rear cameras, a MediaTek MT8163 processor, a 3000 mAh battery and dual band WiFi.
There’s also Bluetooth 4.0 here, a mono speaker, audio jack, microUSB port and a microSD card slot. In spite of the NOOK logo, the slate is made by a Chinese firm known as Shenzhen Jingwah Information Technology. This model may well be the Barnes & Noble answer to the Amazon $50 Fire tablet, apparently.
