Barnes & Noble is still kicking and the outlet has just debuted a new Nook tablet. The device is simply called Nook Tablet and this time it’s a 7 inch version of the 10 incher launched last month.
The new Nook sells for a mere $49.99, which is less than the price of a gourmet meal at a premium restaurant. As the price and name show, this is pretty much a budget offering, one that involves a 7 inch screen with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. We’ve got a 2 MP back camera, a VGA front shooter and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Then there’s also a battery that promises 7 hours of reading, video watching and web browsing.
16 GB of storage are here, plus a microSD card slot, which lets you add up to 128 GB of extra storage. Software-wise we’re dealing with Android and Google Play, which is something that Amazon isn’t offering. There’s also a Nook Bookstore available, parental controls and the works. The 7 inch Nook Tablet provides a smaller and cheaper alternative to the 10.1 incher and while it’s not as generous screen-wise, it gains in comfort and the ease of carrying around.
You can put it in your purse or bag and won’t even feel it’s there. You can order it right now.
