Nvidia’s Shield Tablet K1 has started receiving the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow today, after Nvidia promised to deliver it by the end of the year. Called Software Upgrade version 1.0, this package brings the biggest update since the product’s introduction a month ago.

The Nvidia Skield Tablet K1 packs an 8 inch 1920 x 1200 pixel display with an IPS panel and relies on a quad core 2.2 GHz Nvidia Tegra K1 processor, with 192 cores within the Kepler GPU. There’s 2 GB of RAM on board and 16 GB of storage, plus Android 5.0 Lollipop as the initial software and now the latest update is available.

It takes up 665 MB of storage and it includes changes like bringing a new UI inspired by Material Design to the camera, with enhanced burst photo functionality. There are also new real time HD Image Effects and Google Now on Tap comes here. MicroSD cards can be seen as main internal storage and the UI also got updated, with new wallpapers from Nvidia, customizable Quick Settings Menu and the ability to launch Google Now voice commands from the lockscreen.

App permissions have been improved, being managed centrally and app standby power improvements are also here. To get the update manually, you should check Settings>About>Check for Updates.
