Microsoft’s Surface RT tablets will soon be the only ones with this OS, as yet another partner dropped out. A while ago Samsung and HP gave up on Windows RT and ASUS doesn’t seem to hurry with a VivoTab RT follow-up. Now Dell is leaving this scene.
The Dell XPS 10 was actually a solid and decent tablet, that has been dropped by its maker. The product has been removed from the company’s website, leaving Microsoft as the only vendor of ARM-based tablets with Windows RT. With rumors saying that Nokia’s Windows RT slate Sirius has been axed by Microsoft, the Redmond company seems to be seeking aggressively to be the sole RT handler.
We’re not sure what their strategy is: get more OEM partners or chase them away. I mean, Dell is actually losing money here and so did Samsung with the Ativ RT. Dell is holding an event in New York on October 2nd to announce new tablets and if they go the HP way, we may end up with a half a dozen high end Android slates…
