Taiwanese handset maker HTC is now once again rumored to be working on a tablet. However, this time it’s not an Android device, but rather a Windows one, according to market research and consulting firm NPD DisplaySearch.

The new slate will pack a 10.1 inch display made by LG Display Co and it supports a Full HD resolution. The report was released on March 28th at HTC’s annual conference in Taipei. The new tablet will be assembled by Taiwanese laptop maker Pegatron and mass production is already en route, having started in Q1, according to DisplaySearch.

HTC and Microsoft declined to comment on that matter. A quick look back in the past shows us that in February 2011 HTC unveiled its first tablet, trying to make a dent into the iPad dominance. The HTC Flyer didn’t quite sell well and its stylus wasn’t well received. Will the new model sell more units? Seeing how Windows 8 is doing, this is probably a bad idea…
