The products coming from China never cease to amaze us. We’ve got quad core tablets selling for close to nothing, slates that actually look original and nice getting Jelly Bean and now a Retina Display tablet. The Cube U9GT5 is the slate I’m talking about, the first Android tablet with an iPad 3 Retina Display.
Apparently Cube is a famous brand of tablet PCs in and outside China thanks to the U9GT2 model, that was one of the first models to pack a 9.7 inch IPS display and 1 GB of RAM. The newcomer, U9GT5 supports a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution, with a density of 264 ppi and also packs a Rockchip RK3066 chipset used on other Cube models. We’ve got a dual core Cortex A9 CPU and quad core graphics Mali 400 MP, that should give out decent performances. The device is supposed to run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and comes with Bluetooth and a back camera with flash.
The Cube tablet didn’t get a launch date, but the price is speculated to be somewhere around $200 or less, so twice as cheap as the iPad 3. We’ve also got an embedded video showcasing the tablet and it seems to be pretty snappy in regular use, but I can’t make out much of the display performance.
