There’s another 4.8 inch device you need to worry about, aside from the Samsung Galaxy S III getting launched today. It’s the Pantech Vega Racer 2 I’m talking about, a handset with a 4.8 inch 720p LCD and a case with ceramic coating. LTE is also on the specs list and it appears that this huge device will come to Korea next week.

The product has just been announced officially, with release date included, but there’s no trace of price tag just yet. The Vega Racer 2 supports a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and it’s scheduled to debut on all 3 major Korean cellular carriers next week. The device will feature a 2,020 mAh battery for extra long battery life and Qualcomm’s very famous Snapdragon S4 processor, that’s basically on everything nowadays, from the ASUS PadFone to the HTC One XL.

Pantech Vega Racer 2 provides about 9.5 hours of talk time and 245 hours of standby mode functioning, with LTE included. The handset is 9.35mm thick, so with all that battery and technology inside it’s not half bad. It also weighs less than the Droid RAZR MAXX, at 133 grams, in case you want a comparison. Then there’s the aspect of the ceramic case, but it’s not entirely ceramic, just the coating. I hope it won’t have the problems of the HTC One S ceramic coat: the chipping.
