Star Wars Tiny Death Star is a free game available on iOS, Android and Windows 8, that I recently played and enjoyed a lot. It’s not your typical Star Wars action game, but rather a title much like Tiny Tower, if you know it. It involves building a higher and higher tower of tenants, flats and businesses, that must flourish under your command.

The game was tested on the ASUS VivoTab Note 8 tablet and it looks swell on this device. It comes from Nimble Bit and Disney and displays some very nifty pixel art graphics. It adopts the Tiny Tower style of gameplay and it allows you to build floors inside the Death Star and add more restaurants, shops and all sorts of rooms, as the Emperor orders you (Darth Vader) to open up new floors. You get tenants and organize them by skills, plus hire them in the proper businesses according to their affinities.

Some are better at serving food, others at selling clothes etc. You get cash for getting people (bitizens) from one floor to the other using the elevator and these critters will also usually purchase something from your shops, so more money can be made. By the way, you also need to stock your various selling points and there are special areas where you build robots, send them to scavenge or gather info, so this game is more complex than meets the eye.

There are original Star Wars characters here, like Jar Jar Binks or Luke Skywalker and randomly VIPs will appear to increase your income. There’s also a bit of humor and the original Star Wars songs are present here, in MIDI form. This game is annoying in a good way, so we give it an 8.5 out of 10. You can download it here.
