After the Galaxy S22, S21 and S20, it’s now the turn of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 tablet series to start receiving the One UI 5.0 updates. They include Android 13 as well and they’ve been confirmed in Europe. First in line are the 5G enabled units, which are also getting the November 2022 security patch, with 50 privacy and vulnerability fixes.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 is getting the firmware version X706BXXU2BVK4, while the Galaxy Tab S8+ is getting X806BXXU2BVK4. Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra gets X906BXXU2BVK4. Improvements include a revamped UI and extra colors for the Color Palette and Material You feature. There’s also OCR as a novelty, which is a feature that extracts text out of images. Another important feature is Modes & Routines, now dubbed Bixby Routines, which lets you set a variety of routines and actions for different accounts and entries.

One UI 5.0 also proposes new emojis, both animated and AR. There’s also stacked widgets, making them look more 3D, bigger app icons in the notifications area and modified Quick Settings toggles. The notifications area now features translucent effects. Animations are also smoother. Android 13 also brings per app language settings and a revamp of all standard Samsung apps. Security and privacy have also been improved and Samsung DeX has received an UI improvement.

The RAM Plus feature can be customized or turned off.
