Samsung debuted One UI 3.1 with the Galaxy S21 series last week and now it’s bringing it to its tablets. Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ are the first devices to get the software update, at least in South Korea. You can learn what’s new below.
First of all, the slates debuted in August 2020 with the Note 20 Ultra and they’re still the current Samsung flagship tablets. Tab S7+ gets the same gestures and features and latency for the S-Pen as the Note 20 Ultra did. Back to the new update, it brings a more refined UI design, also improved performance and privacy features, such as removing location tags from photos you share (Private share). There are also extra lockscreen widget options and more video backgrounds for calls.
One can also use separate personal and work profiles on the slates. Depending on the Tab S7 model you’re using, the firmware build will vary between versions T875NKOU1BUA8, T975NKOU1BUA8, and T976NKOU1BUA8, with a software package size total of 2.4 GB. There’s also the latest January Security patch included. Since Android 11 is also part of the update, you get bubbles for conversations, new media controls, improved permission management and a new version of Digital Wellbeing.
There’s also a new organization for notifications and Second Screen support. It lets tablets operate like a second screen for select Samsung Windows PCs. Expect One UI 3.1 to start reaching other devices soon, mainly the Note 20, Z Fold 2 5G and S20 models.
