We already knew that Samsung was messing about with Android 7.0 Nougat updates on the Galaxy S7 and its brethren, but it appears that they’re also prepping a similar treatment for the tablets. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 was just spotted with Android 7.0 Nougat on board, in a GFXBench listing.
The Tab S2 is shown in the benchmark’s database in the 9.7 inch version. while the 8 incher with Nougat was nowhere to be found. We have no information when the update will roll out, but seeing how the S7 update was pushed to 2017, that’s probably when the slate gets it too. Interestingly, we’ve yet to see a Tab S3 launched officially, in spite of many leaks and teasers, so this remains the highest end unit it can deliver.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 packs a 9.7 inch 2048 x 1536 pixel display, an 8 megapixel back camera and an Exynos 5433 processor. It relies on a 5870 mAh battery with excellent life and its Super AMOLED panel is very bright and crisp. Seeing how it only had 3 GB of RAM when it debuted, we expect to see 4 GB on its follow up. Nougat is expected to bring the Tab S2 extra battery life, improved functioning and multitasking.
