It’s time for the lesser specced devices to finally get their taste of Android 7.0 Nougat. I’m talking about the Samsung Galaxy Tab E devices on Verizon and T-Mobile, that have just started receiving the update.

The original Tab E was launched two years ago, so getting Nougat for it is reasonable, but odds are slim for Oreo right now. Verizon is rolling out the fresh firmwares for both the Galaxy Tab E 8.0 and the Galaxy Tab E 9.6. Aside from the Android bump, users are also getting the new Samsung UX, improved battery management and easier multitasking. The Android Security patch offered here is the August one.

T-Mobile has in the meantime released a firmware update for the Galaxy Tab E 8.0, but since they don’t have the Tab E 9.6 in their portofolio, you’ll have to wait for that a bit more. The changelog hasn’t been detailed by the carrier, but it’s bound to be similar to the Verizon one above. Those of you who didn’t get the update over the air, should head to the Verizon site here to get their software for the 8 inch tablet and here for the 9.6 incher.

On T-Mobile the software is available here. Happy flashing! Seeing how both tablets started out with Android 5.1.1, I’d say this is quite a bump.
