Lately when a Samsung tablet leaked, it usually involved the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, but this time a new Tab A model is also in the cards. It’s the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2018) and it has just been benchmarked. Let’s see what we know about it.
Just a couple of days ago there was a WiFi Alliance listing that showed Samsung was working on an upgraded Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), this time going by the name of SM-T387. Back then we didn’t know any internal details, but a recent GeekBench listing shed some light on the fact. The slate got 653 points in the single core test, a rather modest feat and a top score of 1831 in the multi core one.
The same benchmark reveals the presence of the Snapdragon 430 CPU inside, a rather modest upgrade from the Snapdragon 425 CPU of the predecessor. There’s also 2 GB of RAM, Android 8.1 Oreo comes straight out of the box, plus the latest version of Samsung’s Experience UI. Design-wise, we don’t have much info, but it’s very likely we’ll get an aluminum shell and also narrower bezels.
It’s not very sure when Samsung plans toi debut its tablets, but IFA 2018 is a safe bet. The WiFi listing also hints at a debut through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon or US cellular. Expect a price closer to $200 rather than $300.
